My Approach and work principles

Talking through difficult and painful issues that are troubling you, both from the past and in the present, often is not easy. Counselling can help you gain a better understanding of the difficulties you may be experiencing. You need to be understood, and things are seen from your point of view before opening up about issues that are bothering you. Trust is the key. My approach is to offer you a safe, secure and confidential space that is built on honesty, trust and sincerity.

My work principles are based on the person-centred core values of being empathic, congruent and non-judgemental. These are the backbone of my counselling approach, which sees each individual as a unique human being who has the ability to strive and achieve their full potential if they have the right environment and support. This puts the emphasis on the qualities of the therapeutic relationship. Research evidence shows that about 80% of a good therapeutic outcome relates to the quality of the client-therapist relationship.

I work in an integrative way by applying various therapeutic approach techniques to help you overcome issues you are experiencing. I will work within your pace, providing a safe and supportive space while you are exploring some of your deepest thoughts and feelings.

I aim to empower my clients to work towards a more satisfying personal growth and fulfilling life. I work with adults and young people on an individual basis within my private practice. I offer a supportive therapeutic relationship environment to help clients re-connect with their strengths and grow beyond any difficulties they are experiencing.

My Approach

First contact and what will happens next

You can contact me via email or telephone .Once I have received your enquiry I will get in touch with you. If I missed your phone call, I will then call you back at the first opportunity and you may have your free introductory session straight away. If I reply to your email query, I will then offer you a date and time for the free introductory session whether it may be virtual or phone depend on your preference. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have which, usually, this will take about 15 minutes.

Free 15 minutes exploratory session

It’s important you find the right counsellor to help you. A free, no obligation, 15 minutes introductory phone call or online session will help you discover what you want from counselling and whether we can work together. It’s a chance for you to find out if my therapeutic approach will suit you. We can talk about what you want from therapy and the context of this. You can ask me any questions. If you wish, we can book your first session. If you need more time to think about having counselling, you can get back in touch when you’re ready.

Therapy Policies & procedures

  • When you are happy to book your first therapy session, we will discuss the best date and time.

  • I will explain how I work and the counselling boundaries and discuss any concerns about confidentiality.

  • I will create a recurring virtual link and send it to my client with the terms and condition document. The contract needs to be filled in, signed and returned by email confirming that you agreed.

  • The fee should be paid by bank transfer before the start of each session.

At our first session together

The online counselling sessions clients are adviced to check their virtual invitation link about 5 minutes before we are due to start. At our first session together, you can ask me any questions you may still have, about the therapy agreement, confidentiality, boundaries, anything else and explore on whatever is bothering you. Before the end of each session, I will ask you to confirm whether you are happy to book your next regular weekly session.
